Route Markers (M1 series) include the standard MUTCD route shields — Interstate route shields with the red, white, and blue federal interstate design; U.S. Highway shields with the black-on-white classic shape; State Highway shields (custom-generated by jurisdiction); and County Route markers. Truck Route and Business Route variants distinguish commercial and business-district routings. Route Marker Auxiliary Plates (M3, M4, M5, M6 series) are smaller mounted-above-or-below plates that add direction (North, South, East, West), context (Junction, Truck, To), and movement (turn arrows, directional arrows) information to a primary route shield assembly.
