Stop signs are probably the most recognized traffic sign. They are red with white text. The size and finish required by most jurisdictions for roadway use is the 30 Inch x 30 Inch High Intensity Prismatic Reflective. The High Intensity Prismatic version is rated for 10 years outdoors. It is substantially brighter at nighttime than the engineer grade sign, while only slightly more expensive. Our traffic signs are manufactured on .080" thick aluminum for durability. The red portion of the stop sign is screen printed onto the reflective material with high quality inks for exceptional durability.

MUTCD Guidance: Stop Signs: When a sign is used to indicate that traffic is always required to stop, stop signs shall be used. Stop signs shall be an octagon with a white legend and border on a red background. Secondary legends shall not be used on stop signs. If appropriate, a supplemental plaque shall be used to display a secondary legend. Such plaques shall have a white legend and border on a red background. If the number of approach legs controlled by stop signs at an intersection is three or more, the numeral on the supplemental plaque, if used, shall correspond to the actual number of legs controlled by stop signs. At intersections where all approaches are controlled by stop signs), a supplemental plaque shall be mounted below each stop sign.
