Handicap Parking Only reserves an accessible stall with a plain-language legend in place of the reserved parking wording on the standard R7-8.
Post it at accessible stalls on private lots where the owner prefers plain wording to the standard reserved parking legend.

Is the R7-8a enough on its own to identify an accessible stall?
The 2010 ADA Standards require the parking space identification sign to include the International Symbol of Accessibility. Where the R7-8a is used as a text-only sign, post it alongside a compliant R7-8 rather than in place of one.
Why would a property choose plain wording over the standard R7-8?
Some owners and local codes prefer a direct text legend that reads unambiguously to drivers unfamiliar with the reserved parking phrasing. The stall and the mounting height are the same either way.

The R7-8a puts a white legend on a majority blue background, and blue has lower retroreflectivity than white as defined by ASTM D4956. This sign therefore starts with less light return than a white-background sign of the same size. That makes the T-11500 OmniCube the more important upgrade here, not the less — it is what gets a blue sign readable from across a dark parking lot rather than only from a car length away.

R7-8a Mounting Hole Pattern and Spacing
The R7-8a has mounting holes on the vertical centerline, equally spaced from the top and bottom edges: the standard pattern for u-channel and square post mounting.
