What is a passing zone sign?
Passing zone signs control where drivers may or may not pass on two-lane roads. The main signs are Pass With Care (R4-2), which marks where passing resumes, and Do Not Pass (R4-1), which marks a no-passing zone.
What does a Pass With Care sign mean?
A Pass With Care sign (R4-2) marks the end of a no-passing zone and tells drivers they may pass again when it is safe to do so. It is the regulatory counterpart to the Do Not Pass sign.
What is the difference between Pass With Care and Do Not Pass signs?
Do Not Pass (R4-1) is posted where passing is prohibited, while Pass With Care (R4-2) is posted where the no-passing zone ends and passing is again permitted when safe.
