R7-8i Purpose and Use
Handicapped Van Accessible Parking designates the wider stall and marked access aisle a side-lift or ramp-equipped van requires.
Set one at each van accessible stall, which needs the wider space plus a striped access aisle for lift and ramp deployment.
R7-8i Questions
What makes a parking stall van accessible?>
A van accessible stall is wider and has an adjoining striped access aisle so a side lift or ramp can deploy. The R7-8i identifies that stall in a single sign.
Should I use the R7-8i or add a placard to an existing sign?>
Use the R7-8i for a new install where one sign is simpler. Where an R7-8 is already posted, adding the R7-8P van accessible placard beneath it is the cheaper change.
R7-8i Reflective Sheeting Options
Because the R7-8i backs a legal parking restriction that has to stay legible for years of enforcement, the T-11500 OmniCube - up to 60 percent brighter with a 12-year outdoor durability rating - is the safer choice when night visibility matters most, while the T-6500 High Intensity Prismatic delivers proven 10-year durability.

The R7-8i puts a white legend on a majority blue background, and blue has lower retroreflectivity than white as defined by ASTM D4956. This sign therefore starts with less light return than a white-background sign of the same size. That makes the T-11500 OmniCube the more important upgrade here, not the less — it is what gets a blue sign readable from across a dark parking lot rather than only from a car length away.

R7-8i Mounting Hole Pattern and Spacing
The R7-8i has mounting holes on the vertical centerline, equally spaced from the top and bottom edges: the standard pattern for u-channel and square post mounting.
