Introduction - Channelizer Tubes Summary
Channelizer tubes are a type of traffic cone used by highway contractors to mark work zones and redirect traffic flow. In contrast to grabber and looper tubes, Channelizer Tubes can be used on high-speed roadways alongside or in place of channelizing drums and traditional traffic cones. 42-inch Channelizer Tubes are taller than other traffic cones and slimmer than drums in profile, allowing for both easy placement without bending and better portability as road work progresses. Channelizing Devices are defined in Part 6 - Chapter 6K of the 11th Edition of the MUTCD on page 815.Specifications
With four 6-inch reflective bands, Channelizer tubes are highly visible in the daytime and MUTCD-compliant for nighttime use. The alternating 4-stripe pattern begins with a high-intensity orange band for CT16-46HI cones, followed by a high-intensity white band. For CT16-46FP cones, the pattern begins with a diamond-grade** fluorescent orange band, followed by a white band of the same material.Rubber Base
Each purchase of our Channelizer tubes include an easy-to-install 16-pound recycled rubber base. The base ballasts the cone and provides resistance to high-wind and turbulent conditions. To assemble the looper cone and base, position the base over the looper cone and lower it to the ground.
Benefits
Assembled Channelizer tubes are portable, with a molded handle design that aids in placing and transporting cones. Caution tape can be looped through the handles of multiple Channelizer Tubes to link cones together. Handles can also accommodate one barricade light to further improve daytime and nighttime visibility.Barricade Light Installation
When installing a barricade light, the bolt should be inserted through the indented side on the front so that the barricade light can be mounted flush against the cone on the back.
