About Metal Frame
What are the specifications/measurements of one barricade?
Each of the two 63” steel uprights and each of the two 60” steel feet weigh 9 lbs., so the metal base weighs a total of approximately 36 lbs. When three 6’ plastic panels are installed onto the metal base, the fully-assembled Type III Barricade With Metal Base weighs approximately 58 lbs. When three 8’ panels are installed, the barricade weighs approximately 65 lbs.
What materials are used to manufacture metal bases?
All components of a metal base are made from 14-gauge galvanized steel. The tubular shape of the uprights and feet fulfills the requirements of many local jurisdictions.
What are the components of a metal base?
For one metal base, there are two 63” tubular square uprights made from galvanized steel and two 60” tubular steel feet. One steel foot has a 2-inch-tall riser where one upright can be inserted. Each component weighs approximately 9 lbs., so the fully-assembled metal base weighs a combined 36 lbs.
Are these bases compatible with Barricade Lights?
Yes, Barricade Lights can be mounted directly onto the steel uprights using standard mounting hardware.
What are some traffic signs commonly paired with these barricades?
R11-2 Road Closed Signs, R9-9 Sidewalk Closed Signs, and related signs are commonly seen when there is a road or sidewalk closure.

About Panels
When should I choose the double-sided panel vs. the single-sided one?
When you want to use just one barricade for two-directional traffic flows, choose the double-sided panels for more flexibility in use. Other situations may only call for the more cost-effective, single-sided panels.
When is a 6 foot panel the best choice vs. an 8 foot panel and vice versa?
Local jurisdictions will often have a clear preference for one length over the other to accommodate road and environmental conditions. Otherwise, the choice of length is up to contractor discretion.
Do panels have closed ends?
Yes, all panels we supply have closed ends to keep moisture, dirt, and insects out.
When should I choose high-intensity prismatic vs. full-cube prismatic?
Which sheeting material to choose is left to local jurisdictions and their specifications. Both high-intensity prismatic (HIP) and full-cube prismatic (FCP) fulfill retroreflectivity requirements as set by the federal government. FCP sheeting greatly exceeds the minimum requirements and is often chosen when visibility in all road conditions is the highest priority.
What does my purchase include?
Three 6’/8’ panels, two 63” steel uprights, two 60” steel feet, and all the assembly hardware you need are included in your purchase of a Type III Barricade With Metal Base.
