Deploying roll-up signs
Setting up roll-up signs for deployment is best done on a non-slip, textured surface such as asphalt, pavement, or grass. We recommend using work gloves to protect your hands and improve your grip. In addition, the person handling the 36-inch and 48-inch roll-up signs should be capable of pushing downward with at least 25 pounds of force. The force will temporarily bend the fiberglass rib and allow its insertion into or removal from the corner pockets.Unrolling and orienting sign components
- Orient the sign vertically and undo the velcro strap.
- Hold one end of the sign while the sign unfurls itself, then fully unroll the sign.
- Have the fiberglass ribs facing toward yourself. The velcro strap can be at the top or bottom.
- Grip the top end of fiberglass rib closest to you, slightly lift rib, and rotate the rib farthest from you 90 degrees to the left. Keep back rib upright.
Inserting fiberglass ribs into corner pockets
- Pick up the corner of the sign material on the front. Keep fingers clear of corner pocket when holding sign material next to corner pocket.
Storing roll-up signs
Similarly to setting up roll-up signs, the steps below to collapse, roll up, and fasten roll-up signs are best performed on a textured surface using work gloves. Before rolling up signs for storage, confirm that the front of the sign is folded in and the text is not visible. This allows for the velcro strap to be attached in the correct direction, and if present, also keeps the sign name in the margin visible. In addition, make sure to tightly roll the signs if saving space in storage is a priority.Pulling fiberglass ribs from corner pockets
- Flip the sign to the back, so that the fiberglass ribs face toward you.
- Rotate the sign to the left or right so that the velcro strap is at the top.
- Hold the sign exactly upright and grip the rib closest to you with your thumb approximately 3 inches below the corner pocket.
- Push down with great force, bending the back rib into a C-shape.
- Remove the rib from the corner pocket and slowly release pressure.
- Rotate the sign 180 degrees and repeat Steps 3-5.
Rolling up the signs
- Hold the back rib and rotate it 90 degrees to the left or right to align the two ribs, taking care to not pinch your fingers, and flip the sign around.
- Make sure the sign is held horizontally, with the fiberglass ribs and velcro strap facing away from yourself.
- Place both hands approximately one foot apart from the center of the ribs.
- Use both hands to roll forward, gripping the sign material and tightening the roll as you go.
- Secure the rolled up sign by wrapping the velcro strap.
