General

What are No Parking Signs?

No Parking Signs are Regulatory Signs that fully or partially restrict parking in a certain area. Signs that fully restrict parking often read “No Parking Any Time” or specify no parking at a location, such as the “No Parking Here To Corner” sign. Partially restrictive signs outline conditions that allow parking at specific times and for specific vehicles. Buses, firetrucks, and emergency vehicles are common exceptions to No Parking Sign guidance. Most No Parking Signs are white with red text and a red border.

Who uses No Parking Signs?

HOAs, apartment communities, cities, private property owners, and more use No Parking Signs. Signs can be placed in any public or private parking area, including at bus stops, in business parking lots, and on residential streets.

Mounting and Other Signs

What other signs are used with No Parking Signs?

Tow Away Zone Placards and Loading Zone Placards are frequently mounted below Parking Signs. Optionally, the information on most supporting signs can be integrated into the No Parking Sign design.

How are No Parking Signs mounted?

No Parking Signs can be mounted onto standard round, square, or U-channel posts with your choice of nuts and bolts. You can also use our Strapping and Light Pole Brackets to mount No Parking Signs onto light poles and other oversized posts.

Styles and Custom Versions

Which No Parking Sign size and style should I choose?

Because the MUTCD only provides general guidance on parking sign appearances, states and cities have developed their own design specifications. The No Parking Sign size and style you choose should be based on local regulations.

What customizations do you offer for No Parking Signs?

Universities, schools, cities, and other entities have requested a wide range of customizations for No Parking Signs. Past customizations we have completed include adding a university logo onto a “No Parking On Game Day” sign, designing a “No Parking Street Sweeping” sign with a time range, and a “No Parking Load Zone” sign with time and date information.

Are customized No Parking Signs federally compliant?

All customizations we offer are based on a standard MUTCD design and remain federally compliant. In addition, we make sure to follow specifications given by your state and local authorities when customizing a No Parking Sign.

Materials and Uses

What materials do you manufacture No Parking Signs with?

We use rust-proof .080” aluminum for our signs and pre-punch 3/8” mounting holes. No Parking Sign designs are printed onto high-intensity prismatic or full-cube prismatic sheeting and layered with an optional anti-graffiti film.

What are “restrictive” and “permissive” parking signs, and how are they different?

No Parking Signs are “restrictive” signs that generally disallow parking. These signs use symbols or text to limit the vehicle type (No Motorcycle Parking Signs), driver behavior (Drop Off and Pick Up Only Signs), and the time that parking is allowed (No Parking Time Range Signs). The MUTCD uses the term “prohibitive” in place of “restrictive.” Most No Parking Signs are white with red text and a red border. “Permissive” parking signs outline the situations when parking is allowed. Examples of permissive parking signs include Reserved Parking Signs, Time Limit Parking Signs, and Disabled Parking Signs. Most permissive parking signs are white with green text and a green border. Some Disabled Parking Signs are green-on-white with a blue wheelchair logo, while others are entirely blue with white text and symbols.
