About Keep Right Signs
Who uses these signs?
City planners and highway contractors use these signs to direct traffic flow on public roads and highways.
Where are Keep Right Signs commonly used?
Keep Right Symbol Signs are commonly used in pairs. On two-lane roads that have opposite traffic flows, one Keep Right Symbol Sign is placed at each end of the median.
Where do you commonly see Keep Left Signs?
Divided highways often have obstructions in the median that are intended to guide drivers through each turning lane. A driver that is turning left onto a divided highway may see a Keep Left Sign in the highway median. The sign points upwards and to the left, which is the exact direction where the driver should continue.
Are there any supporting placards for Keep Right/Left Signs?
Because Keep Right/Left Signs contain all the information a driver needs, these signs don’t have supporting placards.
Can Object Markers be used with Keep Right/Left Signs?
The MUTCD doesn’t provide specific guidance on using Object Markers and Keep Right/Left Signs together. However, Object Markers and Keep Right Symbol Signs do have overlapping uses. Section 2C.71 of the MUTCD mentions that any obstruction within the roadway, including medians, can be marked with either a Type 1 or a Type 3 Object Marker.
Selecting a Keep Right/Left Sign
What size Keep Right/Left Sign should I choose?
According to Section 2B, Table 2B-1 of the MUTCD, choosing the correct Keep Right/Left Sign mainly depends on the roadway type and speed. 24x30 signs are used on single- and multi-lane roads and highways. 36x48 (expressway) and 48x60 (freeway) signs are the minimum sign sizes for interstates. The federal minimum is 18x24, suited for low volume road applications. 36x48 signs are considered oversized and are often used for interstate and large roadways.
What’s the difference between standard and narrow Keep Right/Left Symbol Signs?
Aside from the difference in sign size, the primary difference between these two sign styles is the location where the signs can be mounted. 18”x30” narrow signs can only be used in medians, at locations where the median is less than 4 feet wide. Standard symbol signs are used in all other relevant circumstances.

What materials are used to create Keep Right/Left Signs?
All of our rigid signs are manufactured with rust-proof .080” aluminum, and sign information is printed onto your choice of high-intensity prismatic or full-cube prismatic sheeting.
How are Keep Right/Left Signs packaged for shipping?
